The home was listed at $1.298 million. The real estate pro set a deadline for accepting offers and received 18 bids. The home sold for $2.057 million\u201458% over asking price, Liz McCarthy, the seller\u2019s agent for the property, told <em>The Mercury News<\/em>. McCarthy also recently had a listing for a 107-year-old home in a flood zone that fetched nearly 45% over the list price after 147 showings and just seven days on the market.<\/p>\n<p>More home buyers are waiving appraisals to ensure the sale doesn\u2019t fall through, too.<\/p>\n<p>According to a recent housing report from Redfin, half<a href=\"https:\/\/magazine.realtor\/daily-news\/2021\/05\/17\/report-half-of-homes-sell-above-list-price\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-di-id=\"di-id-a59d8f8-c78df8e2\">\u00a0of all homes sold above asking price<\/a>\u00a0during four weeks ending\u00a0on May 16. <a href=\"https:\/\/magazine.realtor\/daily-news\/2021\/05\/21\/nar-sales-dip-in-april\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-di-id=\"di-id-3095dd8e-f7a70787\">The median existing-home price for all housing types in April was $341,600<\/a>\u2014a record high, the National Association of REALTORS\u00ae reports.<\/p>\n<p>Eighty-eight percent of the homes sold in April 2021 were on the market for less than a month, NAR\u2019s latest data shows.<\/p>\n<p>Buyer\u2019s agents are growing frustrated with their house hunters who are unable to compete against the frenzy. \u201cAll my colleagues and I don\u2019t love this market,\u201d McCarthy told <em>The Mercury News<\/em>. \u201cThe poor buyers\u2014I\u2019m heartbroken for buyers. And it\u2019s not fun writing offer after offer after offer for buyers who are bidding hundreds of thousands of dollars over asking\u2014and getting beat out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The average number of offers REALTORS\u00ae reported receiving on a closed sale jumped to five in April, according to the National Association of REALTORS\u00ae\u2019 latest \u201cREALTORS\u00ae Confidence Index Survey,\u201d a survey of more than 3,500 real estate pros about their latest transactions.<\/p>\n<p>Real estate pros surveyed feel confident that home prices will continue to climb. On average, they expect home prices over the next three months to increase nearly 6% from a year ago.
