Homeowners and buyers are placing greater emphasis on yard appeal this year. Google Trends data reveals frequent internet searches for how to enhance outdoor space. Living Spaces, a home d\u00e9cor retailer, recently highlighted several outdoor trends that consumers are searching for the most on Google this summer. Here are some of the hottest.<\/p>\n

1. Patio daybeds<\/strong> saw a 257% increase in Google searches over the last six months. \u201cPatio daybeds completely fit in with the \u2018indoors out\u2019 theme of 2020, so it\u2019s no wonder they\u2019re on the rise,\u201d Living Spaces notes. \u201cSimplicity is key here to create a calm outdoor space. There\u2019s no need for a large coffee table; an end table or small pouf works just fine.\u201d<\/p>\n

2. <\/strong>Searches for small-space outdoor furniture<\/strong> are up 243% on Google over the last six months. \u201cYears ago, the average homeowner would have overlooked a small-space patio or backyard,\u201d Living Space notes. \u201cNow people are doing double-takes.\u201d Homeowners are incorporating rounded furnishings, which can soften and open up spaces. Round tables and stools as well as curved sofas for the outdoors are becoming popular.<\/p>\n

3. Backyard bars <\/strong>have seen a 192% increase in Google searches over the past six months while outdoor kitchens<\/strong> saw a 106% increase. \u201cThink of your backyard as you would your indoor space, starting with a floor plan,\u201d Living Spaces notes. \u201cArrange groups of seating, focal points, serving stations, and walkways for a trendy feel.\u201d<\/p>\n

4. Brighter colors <\/strong>are livening up outdoor spaces. Google Trends data shows that \u201clemon yellow\u201d searches are up by 103% over the past six months, and coral is up by 50%. \u201cIn with bright colors, out with boring neutrals,\u201d Living Spaces notes. \u201cSpending more time in our homes and backyards means embracing more of our style personalities. What better way to do that than splashes of fun, playful, energizing color?\u201d<\/p>\n

5. <\/strong>Searches for outdoor tiles<\/strong> have jumped 174%. \u201cOutdoor tiles are just another example of how consumers are choosing to \u2018bring the indoors out\u2019 to rethink and take hold of their outdoor spaces,\u201d Living Spaces notes. \u201cTiles are also incredibly coastal chic.\u201d<\/p>\n

6. Planters and gardens<\/strong> have become more popular and are being done in even the tightest of spaces, including a vertical wall of planters or containers. \u201cIf you\u2019re trying to save space, think vertical,\u201d Living Spaces notes. \u201cStack planters along shelves or window ledges. Hanging planters are also popular right now.\u201d Searches for planters are up 172% in the last six months, with \u201cplanter walls\u201d up 156%.<\/p>\n

7. Fire pits<\/strong> never went out of style. \u201cWith so many of us spending time at home, fire pits are becoming more popular than ever,\u201d Living Spaces reports. \u201cAs summer comes upon us, people are naturally drifting toward outdoor spaces. Slowing down, enjoying conversation, and life\u2019s moments are a few of the life lessons we\u2019ve all had to learn over the past few months.\u201d Fire pits, therefore, are more than d\u00e9cor. Searches for fire pits are up 148% over the last six months, according to Google Trends.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
