Some real estate pros are prepping their \u201cspooktacular\u201d-themed open houses to attract potential buyers\u00a0this month. Here are a few tips if you decide to follow\u00a0the Halloween vibe:<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t go all \u201cgoth\u201d when decorating: <\/strong>Keep the themed decor simple and especially tasteful. No tombstones and graveyards or skeletons on the front stoop to frighten buyers away. April Struhs, a real estate pro with Coldwell Banker Schmitt Real Estate Co. in Key Largo, Fla., told realtor.com\u00ae that she suggests a couple of pumpkin spice candles for the right scent. Some good decorations to include are pumpkins, wreaths, Halloween throw pillows, and orange twinkle lights.<\/p>\n

Have some fun:<\/strong> Plan kid activities for the open house, such as a pumpkin corn-hole or ring toss. Or follow Valerie Burmester, a real estate pro in Seattle, who puts on\u00a0a mini-scavenger hunt. \u201cWhile the parents look around, the kids will be on the lookout for those painted pumpkins, fall pillows, photos of a pet in a costume in the bedroom,\u201d\u00a0Burmester says. \u201cIt will be well worth the effort, because both parents and kids can get in on the games while still looking at the home.\u201d Another\u00a0fun touch, according to\u00a0Jon Tetrault, a real estate pro with Nick Slocum Team in Warwick, R.I., recommends writing \u201cNot Haunted\u201d on the For Sale sign.<\/p>\n

Offer snacks: <\/strong>Halloween is all about the treats. \u201cFall-themed cookies, homemade pumpkin bread, and apple cider all give a home warmth,\u201d Burmester told realtor.com\u00ae. \u201cAnd they\u2019re delicious for adults and kids.\u201d<\/p>\n
