It\u2019s the same low the 30-year rate mortgage reached in May as well as during a week in July, Freddie Mac reports in its weekly mortgage market survey.<\/p>\n<p>Fixed-rate mortgage started the year at 4.5 percent, and have countered many forecasters expectations so far by not rising, but instead dropping.<\/p>\n<p>Freddie Mac reports the following national averages with mortgage rates for the week ending Aug. 14:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>30-year fixed-rate mortgages:<\/strong> averaged 4.12 percent, with an average 0.6 point, dropping from last week\u2019s 4.14 percent average. Last year at this time, 30-year rates averaged 4.40 percent.<\/li>\n<li><strong>15-year fixed-rate mortgages:<\/strong> averaged 3.24 percent, with an average 0.6 point, falling from last week\u2019s 3.27 percent average. A year ago, 15-year rates averaged 3.44 percent.<\/li>\n<li><strong>5-year hybrid adjustable-rate mortgages:<\/strong> averaged 2.97 percent, with an average 0.5 point, falling from last week\u2019s 2.98 percent average. Last year at this time, 5-year ARMs averaged 3.23 percent.<\/li>\n<li><strong>1-year ARMs:<\/strong> averaged 2.36 percent, with an average 0.5 point, rising from last week\u2019s 2.35 percent average.
