Anyone? ‘Ferris Bueller’ Home Finally Sells<\/p><\/div>\n

The memorable modernist home seen in the classic movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” has finally sold, some five years after coming onto the market.<\/p>\n

The buyer, whose identity was not disclosed, paid $1.06 million for the boxy two-building estate located in Highland Park, Ill., a suburb of Chicago. It had been listed for $2.3 million by the sellers, the family of Francis and the late Ben Rose, when it was first listed in 2009. The asking price had recently been cut to $1.2 million.<\/p>\n

The smaller of the home’s two black, glassy buildings is featured in the movie as the garage housing the 1961 Ferrari that the high schoolers take on a joyride. While the larger four-bedroom building was designed by James Speyer, a student of modernist architect Mies van der Rohe, in 1953, the smaller building, which housed the Roses’ car collection but also had a kitchen and bedroom, was designed by David Haid, a student of Speyer’s, in 1976.<\/p>\n
