This coming Tuesday, Feb. 18, is the deadline for financial institutions to send their customers the documents they\u2019ll need to file taxes if they received capital gains, interest dividends, or profits from real estate sales. Finally, you’ll have all the paperwork \u2013 including forms 1099 \u2013 you need to do your taxes. And this year\u2019s tax season is shorter than usual, so it\u2019s time to get moving!<\/p>\n

But there are also numerous changes you need to know about before diving in. If you\u2019re like a lot of real estate professionals who made a significantly larger amount of money in 2013 than they did in 2012, prepare yourself for a bit of a shock when it comes to your tax bill. This is especially true if you made estimated payments based on 2012 numbers, rather than your presumably larger 2013 income.<\/p>\n
