Offering sales associates constructive feedback<br \/> is an important way to share your vision and help them improve their <br \/>skillset.Here are five tips to help you provide advice that associate brokers,<br \/> agents, and team members can use to reach their sales goals. Chances <br \/>are these tips will lead to more trusting relationships among those in <br \/>your office and greater productivity for everyone.<li><b>Check your biases.<\/b> Before you even consider offering <br \/>feedback, be honest with yourself about your own biases. All of us have <br \/>different points of view, so make sure your viewpoints are not based in <br \/>sexism, racism\u00a0or ableism. Masala Dukuly, director of learning and <br \/>development with LifeLabs Learning<i>, <\/i>says, \u201cWe are all biased\u2026you <br \/>can be a well-meaning, good human being and still be biased.\u201d Don\u2019t <br \/>project your biases onto other people.\u00a0<b>Make feedback a dialogue.<\/b> Create a conversation with your <br \/>agents that begins with asking them to \u201cconsent\u201d or \u201copt in\u201d to <br \/>receiving feedback. Approach them by saying something like, \u201cI\u2019d like us<br \/> to take some time together to talk about ways to work with new <br \/>prospects. Is that okay with you?\u201d By asking for permission, you are <br \/>creating a situation that gives her or him room to respond, participant <br \/>in the feedback, and learn rather than become defensive or feel \u201con the <br \/>spot.\u201d<b>Make your feedback specific and objective<\/b>. Offer one or two <br \/>examples in your conversation. Don\u2019t generalize or use vague language. <br \/>Instead of saying, \u201cYou seem unengaged,\u201d say, \u201cIt\u2019s important to me that<br \/> all of our team members respond to client messages, regardless of <br \/>whether the messages are phone calls, emails\u00a0or texts, within five <br \/>minutes of receiving them during our business hours.\u201d<b>Make your feedback central to the situation at hand.<\/b> Let\u2019s <br \/>say the team member was late to an important sales meeting. You might <br \/>say something like, \u201cBecause you were late to the team meeting <br \/>yesterday, the team lost momentum developing our strategy going forward <br \/>with a prospect we\u2019ve been hoping to land as a client. I want to <br \/>encourage you to arrive on time and prepared.\u201d<b>Welcome the opportunity to receive feedback from your agents.<\/b><br \/> Even though it can feel hard or uncomfortable, when you approach <br \/>feedback as dialogue at your company, chances are that everyone <br \/>involved\u2014including you\u2014will be able to learn and improve from the <br \/>experience. We have no doubt that your agents will share feedback with <br \/>you that will help you improve your communications and leadership <br \/>skills.
